Title: 2025-B RESEARCH ASSISTANCE PREDOC
Position: Research Assistant (Pre-Doc)
Description: CEMFI invites applications for up to two 5-months part-time Research Assistant positions (Pre-doc). Candidates should have a strong interest in research in applied economics and/or economic history. The work would relate to a research project in the areas of economic history, labor economics and economics of education, in a research team formed by Cristian Navarro and Ricard Grebol. One position will be fully remote, while the other will combine remote work and on-site work at the ‘Archivo General de la Administración’ (Alcalá de Henares). The positions are funded by the Scholarship for research in Social Sciences ‘SO2024-0065’, by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Duration: 5 months (approximately)
Part-time positions (20 hours per week)
Salary range: 8,000-10,000 euros gross a year.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Obtaining and preparing datasets, including the use of OCR tools.
- Archive work to collect data at the "Archivo General de la Administración" (Alcalá de Henares)
- Conducting statistical and econometric analysis.
- Preparing literature reviews.
- Assisting members of the research team in other aspects of the project.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in economics, sociology, history, or related fields. Candidates about to obtain one of these degrees are also eligible. Ideally, candidates should have the intention to work towards a Master's in research or PhD in one of the above disciplines.
- Excellent management and organizational skills. Meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Strong quantitative skills. Excellent knowledge of Excel, and knowledge of Stata. Knowledge of Python, R or OCR tools would be an advantage.
- Flexible, self-motivating, independent and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Profficient in English and Spanish.
- Strong interest in academic research and Spain's 20th century history.
- Previous experience as a research assistant will be valued.
- Able to legally work in the European Union
Job conditions:
- Part-time positions (20 hours per week).
- Salary range: 8,000-10,000 euros gross a year.
- One position will be fully remote. The other position will combine remote work and on-site work at the "Archivo General de la Administración" (Alcalá de Henares).
- Duration: 5 months (approximately), from as soon as possible.

Position: Research Assistant (Pre-Doc)
Description: CEMFI invites applications for a 1-year full-time Research Assistant position (Pre-doc). Candidates should have a strong interest in research in applied microeconomics. The work would relate to several research projects in the areas of Energy and Environmental Economics and Industrial Organization carried out at EnergyEcoLab. The position is funded by the European Research Council Advanced Grant ERC-2023-ADG Project 101142583 — ENERGY-IN-TRANSITION, entitled 'Socio-Economic Challenges and Opportunities of the Energy Transition,' led by Professor Natalia Fabra. The position will be based at CEMFI, one of the leading Economics Departments in Europe. The campus is located in Madrid, Spain.
Deadline: 15/03/2025
Duration: 12 months
Salary range: 20,000-25,000 euros gross a year.
